![]() Some of my grand children's favorite pastimes were feeding the giraffes and alligator as well as the bird aviary. Visitors can feed and pet various animals and even a Llama who just might decide to spit. The animals are well cared for and content. Bottom line is if you were disappointed in the past, come back and enjoy the changes. Now a new day has come for this little zoo and new owners have taken great pains to restore and improve the property. ![]() Recommended and especially for you with kids. This zoo was almost closed a few years back and had been poorly maintained. It was time to go and I believe we got our money's worth. It took a long time to go through there and I know we missed some things but we were tired and hot and hungry. Hubs is covered from the top of his head to the middle of his stomach with a spray of pellet spit. That thing sounded like it snorted but it spit and my 13 year old lets out a shrill scream, turned a few heads in the place. My husband reaches out over the fence to pet it and the lama leans away from his hand and my husband goes in again. My husband got a wild hair and decided that since we contributed to one particular lama's (THE WHITE ONE) lunch he was entitled to pet him. There were baby pigmy goats walking freely in the place and they let us pick them up and get pics with them. I got to feed a giraffe! I also fed some small, long haired bison looking animal although I know that is not what it was. A real Zoo, and right in the middle of prime vacation territory.Īfter I got over the $85 I spent on my four adult tickets and two cups of food pellets all was good. In a world of disappointing road side attractions like the Sasquatch "Zoo" that I don't think exists anymore, you actually get what you pay for at Gulf Breeze. I am glad to support this place and I wish that more people would recognize it as the gem that it is. I have season passes and have seen how many new animals they have added and all the work they have done to improve the park overall. It thrives because it is a wonderful family day for everyone, away from the beaches that draw them all here. ![]() I realize that to some this place can't compete with a "National Zoo" but that's not why it succeeds. Not to mention the lack of trash everywhere. at Gulf Breeze there are multiple friendly staff who actually answer your questions, and knowledgeable keepers who give educational talks every single day. Audubon doesn't even seem to have keepers or grounds staff because I saw no one but interns. After all this Zoo is a private one and considering that they are still open after the closing and change of ownership some years back, I'd say they are doing much better. ![]() I have been to Zoo Atlanta and the Audubon in New Orleans (both municipally funded non-profit facilities) just in the last 2 years and their ticket prices are 4-8 dollars more for admission so the price complaints seem bit misplaced. I fell in love with it back then and it was not even half the facility it is now. I remember first seeing the place as a child having never been to another zoo. The truth is this Zoo had struggled for years due to what seems like some good ideas gone wrong. I see a lot of mixed reviews from some very opinionated people who don't even have their facts right. I have lived midway between Gulf Breeze and Navarre since 1983 the year this Zoo broke ground.
